Senior Craft Artist Qin Guoping, a National Senior Arts and Crafts Artist, was born in 1964 into a family of Yixing teapot artisans in Dingshu Town. Influenced by her family, she entered a Yixing clay factory in 1980 and studied teapot-making under Senior Arts and Crafts Artists Li Bifang and Hu Yongcheng. In 1994, she pursued further studies in the Ceramic Design Department of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts (now Tsinghua University). After completing her studies, she worked in innovative design at the Yixing Research Institute. Through years of practice, she developed a personal artistic style characterized by teapots that are “simple, rounded, smooth, and dignified,” and has won multiple awards in innovation competitions. Her works feature delicate craftsmanship and varied forms. While remaining rooted in tradition, she strives to innovate, earning the appreciation of industry professionals and collectors.
